pirate story started out as a short - I wanted to create a despicable anti hero or 2, have them wreak some havoc and kill them off in some spectacular way.

But the characters soon took on their own lives - they got away from me - none of them wanted to get knocked off. They were having too much fun. They preferred a soap opera format.
